Introduction:  Dr. Harris received his DVM degree from Colorado State University in 2003. He completed a residency in Anatomic Pathology in 2009 and PhD in 2010 at Washington State University. Dr. Harris' PhD research focused on neonatal immunology and recognition of lipid antigens, utilizing Rhodoccus equi as the model system. Dr. Harris is a Diplomate of the American College of Veterinary Pathologists.

Expertise:  Dr. Harris is a veterinary anatomic pathologist and associate professor in the School of Veterinary Medicine and Biomedical Sciences at the University of Nebraska–Lincoln.

Reasearch:  Dr. Harris routinely collaborates with other scientists at the university who have projects that require pathology expertise. He also is involved in case-based research and contract pathology work through the Veterinary Diagnostic Center.

Outreach:  Dr. Harris' role as a diagnostic pathologist at the Veterinary Diagnostic Center is to assist veterinarians, their clients, and others responsible for animal and public health in the detection, prevention and understanding of disease. This is accomplished through performing necropsies with subsequent histological evaluation, coordinating ancillary testing, and reading biopsies.
