About
Dr. Amy Walton is an assistant professor of practice in University of Nebraska-Lincoln’s Professional Program in Veterinary Medicine. She started her professional career as mixed animal practitioner working in Texas. Her primary focus was equine and small animal medicine. She then relocated to Lincoln, NE and continued her career in private practice. Her skills in surgery, ultrasound, companion and exotic animal medicine bring a variety of experiences and expertise to the program curriculum. Dr. Walton is a co-instructor for Surgery and Foundations courses. She is also the course coordinators and instructors for Animal Welfare, Basics of Ultrasound, Applied Clinical Skills, Veterinary Practice Orientation, and Introduction to Zoological Medicine.
In 2019, Dr. Walton established and currently manages the PPVM’s clinical skills laboratory. This laboratory functions as working classroom where students can utilize models and simulators to develop and refine techniques utilized for veterinarians. Simulators include but are not limited to intravenous catheter placement, equine colic, bovine dystocia, suturing, and laboratory diagnostics.
